Locally-installed software on Ubuntu systems
This is a list of publically available or purchased software installed
locally on Ubuntu-based systems. This is what you will find in M103, in the grad labs,
and on office machines that have been rebuilt with Ubuntu. We have a page on
how to request changes.
For documentation, try the following:

Read the man page or info page for the command. (For example, if the
table below says the command is called "less", then try "man less" or
"info less" to learn more about that command.)

Look through the local installation tree (see the table below) to find
documentation that came with the software.

Point your web browser to the software's homepage (see the table below); often,
you will come across online documentation.

Consider giving a SWIG talk
to members of our department on the use of a particular piece of software
and writing some online notes to go with your talk. We'll post your notes
on the SWIG site and link to them from the table below.
